Masks in Common Areas (Strongly Recommended)

Masks in Common Areas (Strongly Recommended)

On Friday, November 20, 2020, the Provincial Health Order was updated making masks “required” in all indoor public settings, including common areas in apartment buildings and condos.  Immediately, strata corporations rushed to put up Notices in common areas reflecting the new requirement for masks or face coverings.

As the case counts change and the situation continues to evolve, so do the Government Orders and restrictions. The Provincial Health Order as it relates to masks in “shared living space” such as condos, has been updated. It is now strongly recommended that masks be worn in the following areas:

Common areas in apartment buildings and condos, including:

  • Elevators
  • Hallways
  • Lobbies
  • Stairwells

Although the wording has changed from “required” to “strongly recommended”, this is subject to change without notice; as such, many communities have left the original Notices up reflecting the mandate for masks.

Notices and posters should be visually appealing and easy to understand. The Wynford Team has curated a few options that can be used for strata communities.  For Notice options and wording, please contact your strata manager directly or our office at property@wynford.com.
